Despite 减重65磅 while in 大学, I continue to struggle with my weight and body acceptance issues on a daily basis.
So, was I offended this week when I read Maura 凯利’s blog post (that ignited a firestorm) 为 美丽佳人 “Should “Fatties” Get a Room? Nope.
As of this writing, 凯利’s post has over 2,500 comments, hundreds of bloggers have written about her and the 今日秀 did a segment on the post (according to the show, both 凯利 and 美丽佳人 Editor-in-Chief 乔安娜·科尔斯 declined to appear on the program).
Editors at 美丽佳人 have provided 凯利 with a plat为m to engage readers, be snarky and draw visitors to the site, day after day. Just about the entire Internet is talking about her and 美丽佳人 was a trending topic on 推特.
I was surprised to hear that Coles and 凯利 turned down an appearance on the 今日秀. Both had released statements about the controversial post – why not take the opportunity to further explain what 美丽佳人 was trying to achieve with the piece that was sure to upset its primarily female audience. The biggest question I have is why did an editor assign a story about a television show to a writer who, according to 凯利’s post a) is “not much of a TV person” and b) never saw the CBS sitcom 迈克和莫莉?
I’m glad 美丽佳人 is willing to publish controversial articles and doesn’t feel the need to overly censor its writers. I support 凯利 and her right to voice her opinion under the 第一修正案。
– Hillary Rodham Clinton (Thanks to my colleague Lisa 为 posting this quote on 她的Facebook page.)

That’s a First Amendment issue.
